7 Steps to Achieving Your Goals

As we all desire a purpose and meaning for our lives, we can each strive to set clear goals in order to validate and focus on our unique and positive purposes. Goals are essentially our own objectives that can help us to guide our daily actions towards a defined direction.

Steps to Achieve Goals

As you identify the goals in your life, consider the specific steps and strategies that you can implement in order to experience success. Thinking about goals is not enough—you must put your ideas into action!

Define It

To move forward to fulfilling your potential purpose, begin by defining your goal or objective. Once you realize your goal, you can then develop the necessary steps to achieve it.

Write It Down

Once you identify your goal or objective, you should then begin to visualize it by writing it down. Individuals who have marked patterns of success often reveal that writing down their goals helps them to follow through with positive choices that lead to their successes. As you begin to move towards your goal, take time to reflect back on your written objective. Evaluate your progress, consider your choices, and reflect on whether or not your choices are helping you to move forward towards your vision.

Map It Out

After writing your objective, map out your specific plan to achieve your goals. A strong strategy for this step involves evaluating your goal, and then working backwards. Once you realize the steps that are necessary in achieving your objective, you can begin to clearly set out down your designed path.

Set a Deadline

After creating your map and plan, set a clear and distinct deadline for you goal. Deadlines provide us with a clearer time frame for action and choices. If you do not achieve your goal by your designated deadline, then take some time to evaluate your choices. Consider what you can do differently in order to move forward. Question the various factors that you could change in order to achieve success.

Commit Yourself to Your Goal

As we each hold power over our choices and our lives, success becomes something that we can constantly create for ourselves. By implementing structures or routines, we outline specific strategies to guide us towards the attainment of our goals. Simply identifying and writing down our objective is not enough; we must constantly focus on our choices and actions, while reflecting on ways to make positive change when necessary.

Refrain from Fear

As change can be daunting, do not allow yourself to fall prey to the fear of failure. As we set goals, we embark on a new journey towards an unfamiliar place. While we move along on our chosen pathways, each of us may encounter setbacks, struggles, and occasional defeats. As these potentially negative elements are met, continue to focus on your final destination. Just because there are moments of challenge does not mean that the final goal is unattainable.

Do Not Give Up

As you move along a potentially unfamiliar pathway, envision yourself succeeding! Stay confident, and feel strong and validated when you reflect on your abilities. I have always held true to my personal belief that everyone, regardless of his or her unique circumstances, can benefit from working towards a goal.

As we reflect on our lives, our goals, and our purpose, the steps that we take towards achieving our goals can become the DNA of our existence. Goals can help us to establish our purpose, find success, increase our life span, and establish our own personal priorities.
